BLUE CROCODILE HERMES BIRKIN HANDBAG -V1
Ok, full disclosure – I am a man that does not carry purses. However, the whole concept of expensive purses really fascinated me. I think I have an idea as to why clothing sells for what it does, but when it comes to purses at I’m at a total loss. When I think of a purse, I think of a bag that would be semi-stylish but also equally efficient. It should be noted that there was only one of these bags, and it retailed for $150,000 at an auction called “Christies Auction”. The buyer, however, was anonymous.
HERMES EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION SHINY ROUGE H POROSUS CROCODILE 30 CM BIRKIN BAG – USD 203,150
This is yet another bag that was scooped up by an anonymous donor. Can we stop for a second and recognize that this handbag costs as much as an AMG Mercedes Benz car? How does one decide on the price of these things? The material it is made of is not rare, and it would seem based on the size of the bag there is a not lot of material required to construct it. For a 203k bag, where do you think the $202,900 of materials originate from?
FUCHSIA DIAMOND-STUDDED HERMES BIRKIN – USD 222,000
As you probably suspected, this handbag is .. drumroll, please… FUCHSIA in color! Now you may ask, why is it so expensive? The answer is simple – one cannot simply have a designer name fuchsia bag in color, it also needs to be embroidered with 18-carat diamonds and gold! This purse was sold for $222,000 at an auction in Hong Kong.
Hermes Chained Ancre Bag 1.4 Million
Ok so, by this point I think many people will have noticed a trend – the trend is to take a basic purse, and find ways to augment it with diamonds and gold. This particular purse, however, I believe breaks the mold (somewhat), as it is largely made up of chains (and diamonds)!
